Yes, always. We never charge candidates to register, apply, or access opportunities. Our business model is funded entirely by the companies that use our network. Any platform that charges you a "registration fee" or "access fee" to find AI work is not a legitimate operator.

No specific degree or certification is required. What matters is clear thinking, attention to detail, and domain expertise in your field. We have contributors ranging from recent graduates to senior professionals: doctors, lawyers, engineers, developers, linguists, and generalist writers. Roles are matched to your background, not a checklist.

Response times vary depending on the partner company and their current hiring activity. Some move quickly. Candidates have heard back within 1–2 days. Others may take up to 4 weeks depending on project timelines and volume. Communication is managed by the partner platform, not by Crossing Hurdles directly. We recommend keeping an eye on your inbox and checking your spam folder.

Our network is global and most AI training work is fully remote. We have contributors in 50+ countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and beyond. Some specific projects may have geographic or language requirements, but we always make those restrictions clear upfront.

Payment terms, review rules, and methods vary by project and should be disclosed before you commit to work. Payment can be hourly, task-based, or milestone-based, and may depend on approved or accepted work. Our paid recording projects clearly distinguish approved recording/video time from applying, setup, waiting, uploading, rejected, pending, or ineligible time. Selection, hours, approvals, and earnings are not guaranteed; always read the applicable project terms.

For most standard profiles, we can provide a shortlist within 3–7 business days. For specialist roles (medical, legal, highly technical) or large-scale staffing, allow 1–2 weeks for a full-quality shortlist. Our managed service model can also embed a vetted contributor team within your workflow for ongoing projects.

Crossing Hurdles is not an open task marketplace. We connect contributors to opportunities across AI labs, research platforms, and enterprise teams, and we also recruit and support contributors for selected paid recording projects through our official application portal. Our focus on the Global South and underrepresented contributor pools—and our strict no-fees-to-apply policy—runs across both pathways.
